Marlies Schild and Benni Raich make it official
After 11 years of dating, slalom champion and record holder Marlies Schild and Olympic gold medalist and world champion Benjamin Raich got married in a civil ceremony on Saturday surrounded by immediate family. Schild has adopted Raich’s surname as a result of the union.

The two are considered some of the best skiers in the history of the sport and between the two have made an impressive collection of titles – 8 Olympic medals, 12 World Championships medals, 12 discipline titles, one big Globe (Benjamin) and 160 podiums od which 73 victories.

Schild retired from competitive skiing at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season and has publicly expressed interest in starting a family. The couple owns a house together in Pitztal, Austria.

Raich’s future in the sport is still an unknown as he has yet to formally announce his intentions to compete in the 2015-16 World Cup. He finished fourth in giant slalom in Soelden and Beaver Creek last season and also found the podium in third at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, totaling four top-10 finishes on the year.

The FIS Family wishes lots of happiness to the happy couple in their future together!
