Sarah Hendrickson will be out for next season

Sarah Hendrickson will not be able to compete next season due to a knee injury.

The 2013 World Champion and former overall World Cup winner sustained an injury to her right knee in June and now underwent the first of two planned surgeries.

"I am very bummed to have re-injured my right knee and missing the season is going to be tough. However this is not my end. This is a much needed break for my mind and body to refocus on Korea. I am not giving up on my dreams that I set years ago. Another speed bump in the road but my story isn't over", the 21-year-old, who already set her sights on the Olympic Games 2018 in PyeongChang, wrote on facebook.

Sarah Hendrickson already suffered a serious knee injury when she tore her ACL in a crash in training in Oberstdorf in summer 2013. She got back on time to compete in the Winter Games in Sochi 2014. After her 21st place in the first ever Olympic competition in ladies' ski jumping she was again out for a couple of months after another knee surgery.
