Nadya Ochner: “The goal is to improve last year's Carezza result!”

With less than two weeks to go to the 2015-16 season's first Alpine Snowboard World Cup in Carezza, Italy FISSnowboard.com got together with Nadya Ochner to talk about the Italian shooting star's early season form and her goals for the new season.

FISSnowboard.com: Nadya, you had a fantastic start into the new season with two wins at the Europa Cup races in Landgraaf, Holland. How important have those results been for you?

Nadya Ochner: The Landgraaf results were a total surprise. I didn't expect anything like that. I entered the races without any expectations which made them even better.

Bringing home two wins from the Europa Cup where such a strong and deep field did start is definitely a boost for my confidence.

The results should also underline that your training was on point. How pleased are you with your season preps?

The results did show me that I'm on the right way.

In addition, my preparation after Landgraaf has been great, too. We mostly had some very good conditions for our on-snow training days.

In two weeks, it's time for the first World Cup race at Karerpass. Last year you clinched your career's first podium as third. How did that first podium feel like, especially as it was earned at an home soil event?

It was amazing to earn my career's first podium at the sole home soil World Cup. A lot of friends and family were at site who all were crossing fingers for me, and who all were able to celebrate with me in the end. It was an incredible feeling.

What is your goal for Carezza on Dec 12th, 2015?

The goal is to improve last year's result, but I also know that there are a lot of fast girls out there who all aim for a podium result.

It won't be easy but I will give my best. I will try to take it as easy as in Landgraaf. And I hope that it will pay off once again.

What else can we expect from you next season?

I want to ride fast and on a constant level which in the end will hopefully bring me more podium results than last year.

I worked hard over summer, and I look forward to Carezza now!
