A cafe for Kummer

Olympic champion Patrizia Kummer fulfilled her long-time dream of running her own coffee shop by opening “Café Hängebrigga” last Saturday.

The new business is not only a cafe but also a bed & breakfast situated in her parent's home in Muehlebach, Switzerland.

As a result, visitors will have the chance to stay overnight in the 2014 pgs Gold medallist's former children's room.

FISSNowboard.com got hold of Kummer on the phone for a quick chat about the new venture.

FISSnowboard.com: Patrizia, how does it come, that you are now running a b&b and cafe?
Patrizia Kummer: It's been on my mind for such a long time. Finally, the dream came true.

When did you come up with the idea?
I love coffee. And I always have to get used to all the coffees on tour. I enjoy a good coffee.

I love those coffee places in the US. Not the big ones, but the small, relaxed ones. I wanted to do something similar in the Wallis region as we don't have good coffee here.

But why did it take you so long to open your own shop?
It never was the right time to do so. But with the opening of the big chain bridge right next to my parents house, everything changed.

All hikers who come by to check out the chain bridge Goms will pass my parent's place.

And will also have the chance to stay overnight.
Yes, and probably sleep in my old room which got transferred into a guest room.
