Phillip Mauersberger ends his career
As reported on his club SSV Geyer’s website, German Nordic Combined athlete Philipp Mauersberger decided to end his career as a professional athlete. Mauersberger plans to transition into joblife and start his vocational training as a sports and fitness administrator beginning at the 1st of August this year. Mauerberger’s biggest successes included the title of German Junior Champion, an Alpencup victory on Oberwiesenthal in 2015 and a silver medal with the team at the FIS Junior World Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan. „In the past years, I was able so experience many amazing and emotional moments, I met great people and very good friends, trained at beautiful places and was successful in exciting competitions. I am very thankful for that. But in the past, many things had to be second to the sport. After careful consideration, I decided that now is the right time to concentrate on my career after sports. I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life. Many thanks to ma parents and family, coaches and officials, the German Ski Federation and my ski clubs SSV Geyer and Skiclub Ruhpolding e.v. as well as everybody who followed my career and crossed their fingers. I always drew a lot of motivation from your support. I wish a winter with nice conditions and exciting and successful competitions to all active athletes and of course especially to our German team.“ Source: fis-ski.com
