Tina Maze announces retirement

Putting an end to the speculation, Tina Maze (SLO) officially announced her retirement from World Cup ski racing. Maze scheduled a press conference for Friday, 20th October 2016 in Soelden (AUT) where she made the official announcement about her future.

While the ski ace no longer plans to compete at an elite level, Maze said that she does hope to push out of the start one final time at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup races in her home country in Maribor in January 2017.

The Slovenian ski ace took a break from the circuit last season, working for Europsort as a television commentator amongst other endeavours like finishing her college degree.

In future, she will continue the work she started with Eurosport. “Nothing can replace the adrenaline that comes to compete in the Olympic Games or the World Cup, but this is a new chapter of my life, of which I’m excited, and I hope to offer fans a different point of view during the races,” she said.
