Eric Frenzel is Germany’s Ski Athlete of the Year
Each year during the outfitting, the German Ski Federation also honours outstanding athletes in each disciplines plus all active athletes of the federation vote for one Ski Athlete of the Year. 

For 2016 it was Eric Frenzel who was choses for the „Golden Ski“, the highest honours the federation awards to its athletes, in the category Nordic Combined. Together with his fellow „Golden Ski“ winners Viktoria Rebensburg and Felix Neureuther (alpine), Lisa Zimmermann (Freeski), Heidi Zacher and Paul Eckert (Ski Cross), Laura Dahlmeier and Simon Schempp (Biathlon), Severin Freund (Ski Jumping) and Sandra Ringwald and Sebastian Eisenlauer (Cross-Country Skiing), Frenzel was eligible for the which all athletes of the German Ski Federation who have team status can vote for. 

Their choice for the 2016 top honours was Eric Frenzel whose fourth consecutive overall win, the triple TRIPLE, 8 World Cup victories and 13 podium positions made him hard to overlook.
