Swiss Aerials specialist Tanja Schaerer will miss the next winter due to a shoulder injury.

The 25-year-old, who had torn her biceps tendon of her right shoulder in a training accident in Ruk, Finland, last December has to undergo surgery which is planned for next September. As a result, she won't be able to compete in the 2015 season.

Heavy, ever lasting pain has forced the skier to take this step which will sideline her from on-snow action for approximately six months.

However, the two-time Olympian with three World Cup podium finishes to her belt has already other goals in mind to concentrate and focus on.

“It's hard that I'm not able to jump for a whole season but the timing for the surgery makes sense,” Schaerer said.

In the meantime, Schaerer, who also works as a doctor's assistant, wants to utilise the off-snow time in the gym as well as working on her occupational A-level.

Next spring, she aims to be back on track again.

In addition, Schaerer will also train with her team mates until end of August at the water jump areal at Mettmenstetten.

“I just want to focus on some details at easier jumps building up a good base for next year,” Schaerer added.
