Smith launches Ski Cross Academy
While targeting all kinds of skiers, from beginners to experts, the Fanny Smith Academy is looking to provide world class Ski Cross coaching to interested racers attending the academy’s courses.

"When I started ski cross there was no structure for young people to start in the sport. I was very lucky that my parents really supported me and worked hard to help me building a team so that I could start racing. Now I want to be able to help passing my passion for ski cross to the next generation and making the sport more accessible to everyone," Smith explains why she called the Academy to life.

"There are lots of people who watch us all race on the television and want to be able to have a go themselves. The Academy will provide a way for them to do that."

In total, there are four different course levels: "We will run courses for kids, as well as young athletes who want to break into the FIS and Europa Cup circuits. There will also be fun courses for people who just want to see what ski cross is all about."

Although the main focus is on skiers also snowboarders (especially snowboard cross athletes) are welcome, too.

Former snowboard pro and 2001 SBX World Champion Guillaume Nantermod, who coached Smith to top of the world over the past years, will serve as Head Coach for all four programmes offered.

"He is the perfect person to be the Director of Coaching in our Academy. I was lucky to have very generous patrons who helped me being able to afford a private coach back in the days when I started and we have worked together ever since.

He has some unusual methods and techniques in training but he always makes it fun. Without him I would not have been the World Champion," says Smith.
