Pressure is motivation for Peter Prevc
With the second place in the overall World Cup and Silver and Bronze at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Peter Prevc was one of the best ski jumpers last winter. These successes obviously changed the public's expectations for the future, a fact that he is very aware of.

"Of course the pressure is now higher, people are expecting more from me now. This is an additional motivation for the preparation for next season. I know that you can only achieve such good results with hard work", Prevc told in an interview on rtvslo.si.

The 22-year-old has not set any special results as goals for the upcoming season, for him it's mainly about his personal performance. "My goal is to jump as good as possible in every competition. I want to show progress, try to make as few mistakes as possible and show my best performance. Then you'll see what result you could achieve at the end."

A good start of the season is of special importance for the Slovene. "So far I have not been able to start a season on a very high level. This year I want to jump better at the beginning of the season than, for example, last year." Peter Prevc was 21st in the World Cup opening in Klingenthal 2013, and it was not before the fifth stop of the World Cup in Engelberg that he achieved his first Top 10 result.

"Every competition is a highlight"

In contrast to most of the other athletes, who mention the 4-Hills-Tournament and the World Championships in Falun as the main goals for next season, Prevc doesn't want to focus especially on the competitions there. "I call it "Media-Highlights", because the media pays more attention to these events. For me personally, every competitiion is practically a highlight. You can't take any competition easy and say it's not important. Then it can happen that you are not well prepared for the major events with the big media attention."

For Prevc the strong Slovenian team with its good mix of older and younger jumpers, like his brother Cene, plays an important role in being successful next winter. "In our team we have experienced jumpers like Robert Kranjec or Jernej Damjan and also younger athletes like, for example, Cene or Anze Lanisek. The competition within the team is intense and that's good. It's an additional motivation and we are pushing each other."
