After fracturing her tibia and fibula last January, Andrea Dettling should have been comfortably on the way to recovery, but instead of spending the beginning of November preparing for the season the Swiss speed specialist has undergone additional surgery in St.Moritz this Wednesday.

Dr Walter O. Frey explained for Skionline.com that Dettling suffered from a frequent complication: "The tibia has not healed quickly enough in the past months. This issue is not uncommon in such a fractures." But the good news is that if from now on all goes according to plan, Dettling can start training again early in 2015.

"Unfortunately, my shin-bone has not grown together. Despite this complication I have to thank my physios and my fitness trainer for the excellent work they have done with me and I hope that at the start of 2015 I will finally be able to feel some snow under my feet again."
