FIS disciplines part of European Youth Olympic Festival
The European Youth Olympic Festival got underway this week in Voralberg (AUT) and Liechtenstein with athletes between 14-18 years of age competing in all areas of winter sports.

FIS has several of its disciplines represented at the Festival, which takes place every other year. Cross-Country, Nordic Combined, Ski Jumping, Alpine Skiing and Snowboard are all on the programme.

The Festival was the brainchild of former IOC President Jacques Rogge as an opportunity to give the next generation of athletes the chance to compete at the top level in an international atmosphere. This is the 12th edition of the Festival and will include 1,500 athletes from 49 nations, making it one of the biggest multi-sport events in Europe. Rogge's vision has since expanded to the IOC that hosts the Youth Olympic Games for athletes worldwide. The next edition of the 'YOG', which is held every four years, will take place in early 2016 in Lillehammer (NOR).
