Preparations well underway for FIS Nordic Junior Worlds 2016 in Rasnov
For the first time, Rasnov (ROU) will welcome the world’s top Nordic skiers as the FIS Junior & U23 Nordic World Ski Championships will take place there in February 2016.

On 11th and 12th May 2015, FIS representatives including Project and Cross-Country Continental Cup Coordinator Michal Lamplot, Ski Jumping Coordinator Horst Tielmann, Nordic Combined Continental Cup Coordinator Toni Guggemoos and inspected the Cross-Country, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined competition sites.

The group covered all aspects of the Championships, ranging from the competition programme, registration, accommodation and logistics to side events and ceremonies, whilst the Organising Committee presented an update on its preparations including plans for the upcoming months.

Rasnov hosted a top sports event in 2013 when the regional capital of Brasov organised the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival. In addition, the ladies’ Ski Jumping World Cup circuit has already travelled to Rasnov for competitions during the past two seasons.

“The inspection was successful and we are on the right track. The Rasnov Organising Committee is very motivated, cooperative and enthusiastic about the World Championships. We are sure we will once again see a great and successful event,” Lamplot said.

Close cooperation will continue during the next months and another coordination meeting will be held in conjunction with the FIS Calendar Conference in Varna (BUL).

The FIS Junior & U23 World Championships in Rasnov will be held from 22nd–28th February 2016.
