International World Cup Coaches Seminar in Trondheim

From 23rd – 24th August the Norwegian Ski Federation (NSF), Olympiatoppen and Trondheim municipality are going to host a seminar for World Cup coaches.

The goal of the seminar is to exchange experiences between World Cup coaches from different nations and to facilitate sharing of knowledge about training, physiology, coaching, technique and sport management.

The 2-day seminar features many activities and presentations. The program ranges from topics covering Cross-Country Skiing in a scientific perspective, comparison of training philosophies in Russia and Norway to talent development and training from the perspective of top athletes Petter Northug and Marit Bjoergen..

Cross-Country Committee chairman Vegard Ulvang and and FIS Cross-Country Race Director Pierre Mignerey will debate about the future of classic technique.

“One of our main goals is to contribute in the development of Cross-Country skiing. Our sport needs more nations and athletes that reach the podium. Sharing of coaching experience and knowledge is one of the ways to reach this goal,” said Guri Hetland, one of the organizers of the seminar, former Swiss coach and now project manager in the bid-committee for WSC Trondheim. (of the year award winner and former trainer of Dario Cologna) .
