IOC visits FIS Headquarters for sustainability workshop

On 21st June 2016, IOC representatives Marie Sallois Dembreville, Michelle Lemaître and Stijn Decoene visited the FIS Headquarters in Oberhofen (SUI) for an afternoon workshop on sustainability.

The aim of the workshop was to inform FIS about the IOC actions in the area of sustainability, while gathering information about the various FIS sustainability projects. The IOC group is meeting every International Federation with the goal to better align the efforts of the IFs alongside the IOC in their sustainability efforts.

With the implementation of Olympic Agenda 2020, sustainability has taken on a top priority within the IOC as one of the four primary pillars of the reform programme. The workshop in Oberhofen is one of the first steps in meeting the goals of the four-year plan, and beyond.

“It was a highly productive afternoon with a good exchange of information,” said FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis. “It was very beneficial for us to learn about the IOC’s efforts in sustainability which can assist our work in this area going forwards. We are looking forward to the next steps when the International Federations undertake a similar transfer of knowledge all together under the guidance of the IOC.”
