FIS President Gian Franco Kasper elected to IOC Executive Board

On 4th August 2016, at the 129th IOC Session in Rio de Janeiro (BRA), FIS President Gian Franco Kasper was elected to the IOC Executive Board as the representative of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF).

Kasper will be joined on the IOC Executive Board by new and returning Members that comprise Angela Ruggiero (USA) representing the IOC Athletes’ Commission, Sergey Bubka (UKR), Ser Miang Ng (SIN) and Willi Kaltschmitt (GUA). Ching-Kuo Wu (TPE) and Patrick Hickey (GBR) are resuming their seats as representatives of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) respectively.

Juan Antonio Samaranch (ESP) and Ugur Erdener (TUR) will replace outgoing Vice-Presidents Nawal El Moutawakel (MAR) and Sir Craig Reedie (GBR).

FIS President Gian Franco Kasper said of his election: ”I am well aware of the responsibilities as representative of the seven Winter Sports Federations in the IOC Executive Board and I will also contribute actively to the many other issues that are on the agenda.”

The newly composed Executive Board will begin its work after the Olympic Games Rio 2016.
