Oberwiesenthal (GER) takes the FIS Nordic JWSC baton from Lahti (FIN)

Just a few days ago, the FIS Nordic Junior and U23 Cross-Country World Championships ended in Lahti (FIN).  Now the baton passes on to the next Organisers, Oberwiesenthal (GER), who will host the event in 2020. In their first step, the logo and the visual identity of the event have been presented and the website and social media channels opened.

In only 13 months, the future stars of the disciplines Cross-Country Skiing Ski Jumping, and Nordic Combined will descend on the venue of Oberwiesenthal, known as a long-time host of the Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix.

After the end of this year’s JWSC event in Lahti, a video message from the Finnish Organisers transmitted their good wishes to their successors and a young athlete was dispatched to Oberwiesenthal to hand over a banner, similar to the torch relay in the Olympic Games. District Administrator Frank Vogel, Oberwiesenthal’s Mayor Mirko Ernst, and Christian Freitag, CEO of the city’s ski club WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal e.V. received the video message and banner in Oberwiesenthal.

But help from the Finnish Organisers is not only symbolical. A delegation from Oberwiesenthal was present during this year’s championships in Finland to learn hands on, and to transfer of knowledge between this year’s Organisers to their own Organising Committee back in Oberwiesenthal.

As a starting shot for the “hot phase” of preparations, the event’s website jwm2020.de and the corresponding social media presences have been launched and are accessible from now on. The following hashtags have been chosen to communicate about the event: #JWM2020 #JWSC2020 #hERZchampions
