World Cup to return to Japan
The Japanese Federation has officially applied to host a World Cup stop of the up-coming winter season.

Two parallel events are scheduled for February 28 and March 1, 2015 at Asahikawa.

14 years after the last races were held on the slopes of the ski resort of the second largest city on Hokkaido, the World Cup circuit will return with a parallel giant slalom and a parallel slalom.

However, dates have to be confirmed after a final inspection by FIS Officials this fall.

In addition, the integration of Asahikawa to the calendar would also end a period of six years in which no Snowboard World Cup was hosted in the land of the rising sun.

The last Japanese World Cup stop dates back to January 15, 2009, when a halfpipe comp took place in Gujo-Gifu.
