Return to the old competition format
For now the FIS Grand Prix in Courchevel will be the last l event carried out with the new competition format.

This format, which was recently tested in Einsiedeln and Wisla and might be used for the ski flying events in winter, will still apply for the competition in France on Friday, the next FIS Grand Prix in Hakuba (August 23rd and 24th) will be held with the usual World Cup system.

"We have then collected enough data in Wisla, Einsiedeln and Courchevel to discuss this issue with the FIS Coordination Board. That's why we will return to the old format for Hakuba and Almaty. It will also give us the chance to eventually make adjustments for the rest of the competitions", race director Walter Hofer told Berkutschi.

Among other reasons, also technical problems concerning the graphic display on TV and at the hill were a factor in this decision. "If the points scored in the qualification the day before also count for the competition then it's not that up-to-date anymore and, compared to usual standards, we also lose information systems in the first competition round, for example we can't use the "to-beat"-line", the Austrian explains.

Whether or not the new format will be used for the ski flying events in the upcoming winter will be decided at the FIS meetings in fall.
