Postponements of FIS World Cup competitions
With much of Central Europe seeing the arrival of winter and snow only today, many of the World Cup races across all disciplines have been moved to other locations and/or dates. Below is an overview of the changes announced in the last week.

Alpine Skiing:
With Val d’Isere and Courchevel (both FRA) both lacking snow, the men’s and ladies Audi FIS World Cup tour cancelled the scheduled races for this upcoming weekend. Fortunately, 2019 World Championship host Are (SWE) stepped in to host the cancelled races. The schedule for the upcoming weekend of action in Scandinavia is as follows:

Friday 12.12.2014:
Giant Slalom Ladies starting at 10:00 CET
Giant Slalom Men starting at 16:00 CET

Saturday 13.12.2014:
Slalom Ladies starting at 9:30 CET

Sunday 14.12.2014:
Slalom Men’s starting at 10:30 CET

While conditions have improved in the last few days, the Local Organising Committee for Val Gardena (ITA) has postponed the official snow control, while Alta Badia (ITA) and Madonna di Campiglio (ITA) are remaining hopeful, yet cautious for the events scheduled just before Christmas. Good news came today from Val d’Isere as the ladies’ races scheduled there for next weekend were given a positive snow control.

Nordics:
In Cross-Country, the individual races at Davos (SUI) have been shortened due to lack of snow in the village, below are the key changes for the upcoming weekend:

Saturday, 13.12.2014
10 km C Ladies (instead of 15 km C Ladies), starting at 11:15 CET
15 km C Men (instead of 30 km C Men), starting at 13:30 CET (instead of 14:00 CET)

Freestyle Skiing:
The two Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup races scheduled for this upcoming weekend in Val Thorens (FRA) have been postponed until the start of January and will now be held in early January as follows:

Thursday 8.1.2015
Qualification at 10:30
Friday 9.1.2015
Finals at 11:00
Saturday 10.1.2015:
Qualification at 9:30 and Finals at 13:30

In addition, the snow control for the races scheduled in Innichen (ITA) on 20th – 21st December has been delayed until this Friday to allow the Organisers additional time to determine if there is enough snow to build the course.

Snowboard:

Due to the continuous warm temperatures, the FIS Snowboard World Cup parallel giant slalom in Carezza (ITA) has been postponed until Tuesday, 16th December. The new official snow control will be held today.
In addition, the Snowboard cross competition scheduled on 18th – 19th December in Montafon (AUT) has been cancelled. FIS is searching for possibilities for a replacement later this season.
