YOG 2016 Unveils Medals

The 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer (NOR) unveiled its medal design for the upcoming Games. The IOC held a contest and received entries from 65 nations ranging from Argentina to Vietnam. In the end, 20 year-old Burzo Ciprian from Romania created the winning entry with his design titled ‘To the Top’.

Annual Meeting with Audi

FIS and Audi held their annual post-season meeting last week in Munich to review the 2014/15 season and future activities. The meeting, which included key representatives from Audi Sports Marketing, FIS and FIS Marketing, produced fruitful discussions analysing the past season's activities and discussing steps for the next seasons in the context of the long-term partnership.

Audi is a key partner of FIS as the title sponsor of the Audi FIS Alpine and Ski Cross World Cups and a sponsor for the FIS Cross Country, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined World Cups, in addition to the 2016 FIS Ski Flying World Championships. Audi also sponsors the Bring Children to the Snow campaign.

Baby Boom
Two major ski stars announced they will be expanding their families in the upcoming months as Cross-Country skier Marit Bjoergen and Alpine ace Marlies Schild announced their pregnancies. Congratulations to both families.

Ski Tour Canada Launches Website
The world’s top Cross-Country skiers from over 25 countries will go head-to-head on Canadian soil at the FIS Cross- Country World Cup season finale at the Ski Tour Canada. The Organisers of this first-time Tour recently launched their website, which is one-stop shopping for fans interested in attending any or even all of the eight scheduled races across the country.

Austrian Ironmen

Congratulations to the Austrian Nordic Combined team, which finished the Ironman race in Klagenfurt as a mixed relay team entry. Lukas Klapfer (3,86 km swimming), Harald Lemmerer and Will Denifl (each 90 km cycling) and coaches Christoph Eugen and Jochen Strobl (each 21,1 km of running) finished the competition in 8 hours, 53 minutes and 38 seconds.

Vonn up for an ESPY

Lindsey Vonn is a candidate for two 2015 ESPY awards: Best Comeback Athlete and Best Female Athlete. The ESPYS commemorate the past year in sports by "recognising major sports achievements, reliving unforgettable moments and saluting the leading performers and performances." The awards will be handed out in a ceremony on 15th July.
