Get ready for Beijing and Lausanne
The 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur (MAL) has elected Beijing (CHN) and Lausanne (SUI) to host the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games respectively.

Beijing will be the first city to host both the summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games. The Chinese capital defeated its sole opponent Almaty (KAZ) in a single round of voting by the International Olympic Committee, 44 votes to 40.

Beijing aims to use the Games to accelerate the development of a new sport, culture and tourism area, and to encourage interest in winter sports in a region that is home to more than 300 million people in northern China.

Meanwhile, the IOC chose Lausanne to host the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games over opponent Brasov (ROU) with 71 votes to 10.

Lausanne, home to the IOC headquarters since 1915 and known as the Olympic Capital, will be the third city to host the Winter YOG following in the footsteps of Innsbruck (AUT) in 2012 and Lillehammer (NOR) in 2016.
