Olympic 2018 Inspections

A delegation of key FIS officials are spending this week in PyeongChang (KOR) as part of an official inspection for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Race Directors from Alpine, Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding are all on site to view the progress made on the Olympic venues and work closely with the PyeongChang Organising Committee (POCOG) and Gangwon Province who is handling the construction projects to determine the tasks to be accomplished.

For the three disciplines, the visit is especially crucial as the first official Test Events will be staged during the upcoming season in Korea.

The men’s Audi FIS Alpine World Cup will travel to Korea and hold a downhill and super-G race on the new Jeongseon course on 6th-7th February, 2016. Meanwhile, Bokwang venue will host the Freestyle and Snowboard events with ski and snowboard cross, slopestyle and big air between 20th-28th February 2016.

Next week, the IOC will host the formal IOC Coordination Commission visit, , including FIS President Gian Franco Kasper as a member of the Commission, FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis, as well as colleagues from all seven International Winter Sports Federations.
