WADA Executive and Foundation Board meetings

The World Anti-Doping Agency held its Executive and Foundation Board meetings in Montreal (CAN) on 11th and 12th May 2016 including participation of FIS President Gian Franco Kasper, who is a member of the WADA Executive Committee.

During the Foundation Board Meeting, the Agency heard calls from Board Members for tougher consequences for non-compliance and for further investigations. The Board also tackled other topics – ranging from the IOC’s proposed Independent Testing Authority and the need for greater funding as demands on the Agency increase.

“WADA heard the call from its Foundation Board members; in particular, its Athlete Committee members, who asked for tougher consequences for non-compliance and for further investigations,” said WADA President Sir Craig Reedie. “We understand fully that, in the current climate, with new doping allegations surfacing, we have work to do to further secure athletes’ confidence in clean sport,” he continued. “We appreciate the sense of urgency in light of the upcoming Rio Games and I can assure you that we take this responsibility very seriously.”
