Jure Sinkovec announces his retirement

After some difficult years, Jure Sinkovec has now decided to end his ski jumping career.

The 30-year-old Slovene was struggling with serious knee injuries over the past four years. After his last rehabilitation, Sinkovec was able to return to the hill again mid June, but then he made the decision to say farewell to competitive sports.

He now plans to stay involved in ski jumping as a coach.

Jure Sinkovec made his debut in the World Cup in November 2005 in Kuusamo. In February 2011 he celebrated his only win in the World Cup with the Slovenian team in a ski flying event in Oberstdorf. This was also the first World Cup win for a team from Slovenia. A week later he won the bronze medal with Slovenia at the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund.

His best individual result on a World Cup level was a second place in the Grand Prix in Almaty (KAZ) in 2011.
