LAAX OPEN 2017 is FIS Snowboard World Cup

The latest sport news is now available for the international snowboard event in Europe’s leading freestyle destination Laax, Switzerland: According to the FIS 2016/2017 winter-season calendar, the LAAX OPEN is now being announced as a FIS Snowboard World Cup with halfpipe and slopestyle disciplines for women and men.

This decision will intensify the cooperation between Laax and the authorized National Swiss-Ski Association.

Laax has already been the official training base for Swiss-Ski since 2013. The Swiss Snowboard Team has been fully embracing the ideal infrastructure with the world’s largest halfpipe and the pro kicker line on Crap Sogn Gion as well as the Freestyle Academy, Europe’s first freestyle indoor base, located in the valley. This makes it possible to build a foundation for success in top-class sport.

Internationally successful Swiss snowboarders like 2014 halfpipe Olympic gold medal winner Iouri Podladtchikov, local riders David Hablützel and Sina Candrian, including many other riders from all over the world, owe a lot to Laax's consistent 30 year commitment to the sport of snowboarding.

And you can count on all of them showing up at the LAAX OPEN FIS Snowboard World Cup from January 16 - 21, 2017.
