Austrian riders stand out at last sbx Europa Cup

Athletes from the hosting nation have dominated the last two Europa Cup snowboard cross races of a long season staged as back-to-back races in Sportgastein, Austria last weekend.

While Alessandro Haemmerle was able to clinch the penultimate event which had to be antedated by one day to Thursday due to the bad weather forecast with junior world champion Charlotte Bankes (FRA) taking the win on the ladies side of things, his team mates ruled the final race on Saturday.

Hanno Douschan finished in first position of the men's event, and Susanne Moll triumphed in the women's final.

While Austrian riders shined out in the two races, the Europa Cup titles, however, went to Swiss riders Alexandra Hasler and Tim Watter who both had earned their personal World Cup spot for the 2016 winter with strong performances over the last EC season.
