Sweden selects national team for the next season

Swedish Ski Association has announced Cross-Country national team training groups for the coming season 2015-2016. The team consists of ten women and eight men. The development team are eight women and eleven men.

Swedish National Team management has in recent weeks evaluated the World Cup season and outlined steps for development in the future. One concrete step is to launch a targeted sprint group in which skiers from the national team and development team will have four common camps.

"We want to improve the quality of sprint training sessions and create opportunities for more and tougher challenges in racing similar situations, man to man and woman against woman," head coach Rikard Grip reveals .

Athletes Johan Olsson, Daniel Richardson and Lars Nelson are missing in the line up and have been replaced with new talents such as Falun-Borlänge Simon Andersson and Stockviks Anders Svanebo. "We have to deliver hard work and an aggressive attitude to maintain our position as one of the world's best men's teams. But I feel we have a positive group with talented skiers both on the first team and the development team. This is especially true among the ladies where the situation is very good," Rikard Grip says.
