Ernest Yahin is the best Russian Nordic Combined athlete of the summer 2015. After being the sole Russian started in the Summer Grand Prix, the 24-year-old also won the title of the Russian national champion on the normal hill in Sochi.

Ranking second after the jumping event, Yahin only had to concede defeat to Nordic Combined athlete turned special jumper Evgeniy Klimov who competed in his probably last Nordic Combined event in Sochi. 98 metres to Klimov’s 99.5 meant 18 seconds of time behind for Yahin who did not have a problem to shake Klimov off in the 10 km roller-ski race on the Olympic track.

In the end, Yahin finished first undisputedly, one minute and 25 seconds ahead of Viacheslav Barkov who had ranked seventh after the jumping but conquered the second step of the podium by setting the fastest roller-ski time of 23:54.2 for the 10 km. The third rank went to Ivan Panin, +01:34.3 behind Yahin. Evgeniy Klimov finally finished seventh out of the total 31 athletes.
