The FIS Rollerskiing season started in Torsby last weekend

The Cross Country season 2017 started record early last weekend (21-22.05.2016) with FIS Rollerskiing events for both juniors and seniors in Torsby, Sweden. The races were also the premiere for the national Swedish Rollerskiing cup, STS Roll cup. The cup this summer contains of six competitions for seniors and five races for juniors.

The races took place at the famous “Hovfjället” witch is one of the most frequent used uphill in Sweden for testing the shape during the training season. The uphill has a height difference of 391 m in 7 km, a tough challenge even for a top athlete. Saturday’s race was an individual start in free technique witch was the ground for Sunday’s pursuit in classical technique. On Sunday youth classes also were organized where the future stars tried the last 2.5 km of the uphill in a mass start race.

The first day was won by Malin Boerjesjoe and Alfred Buskqvist in the juniors categories. In the ladies class only a few seconds where splitting the top girls and in the men’s class Buskqvist won by a minute on a time that would have placed him in the top of the senior class. In the senior classes the ROL WSC medallist from Val di Fiemme Sandra Olsson won and the men’s class was won by Marcus Ruus.

The pursuit races on Sunday were won by the exact same athletes witch also mean that all of them are in the yellow leader bib for the upcoming events later this summer.

The STS Roll cup continues in Norrköping 08.07.2016 with a mass start for seniors and for the juniors next cup round is in Trollhättan 26.08.2016.
