Podium for Tim Hug at Biennathlon
The past weekend had a podium result in store for Swiss Nordic Combined athlete Tim Hug. The 28-year-old finished third out of 58 participants in the men’s category, a veritable surprise given the strong competition. Hug’s cross triathlon premiere consisted of 1.5 kilometres of swimming, 30 km on the mountain bike and 9.4 kilometres of running.

While starting slightly slower in the more unfamiliar discipline of swimming (ninth rank, 20:17.3), Hug caught up with a great performance on the bike. After one hour and 33 minutes, he finished the biking part with the fastest time of the entire field. Finishing off with the third-fastest trail running time (40:55.7), Hug crossed the finish line in Biel after two hours and 37 minutes, about seven minutes after the winner Jan Pyott.
