After his seventh place on Saturday, Markus Eisenbichler was clearly the best athlete in the second Ski Jumping Continental Cup competition in Wisla (POL).
The 25-year-old German had the best jumps in both rounds on the Adam-Malysz-hill with 130 m and 128.5 m and took the clear win on Sunday morning with 273.6 points. The ski jumper of the club TSV Siegsdorf in Bavaria now won four out of the last five COC competitions. "My jumps were better than yesterday. I'm happy now, the competition was very hard. Now it's time for the Continental Cup in Klingenthal. That's my favorite hill and I want to jump very well there in front of the German fans", said today's winner.
Daniel Huber of Austria, with 129 m fourth after the first round, achieved his first podium result of this summer in second with a final jump of 124 m and a total of 258.8 points. "Yesterday I was very satisfied with my jumps and I was tenth. I didn't expect to be on the podium today, so I'm very happy about the second place", he told.
The Italian jumpers, who were already very strong on Saturday, showed another great performance again on Sunday. Alex Insam, sixth in the first competition in Wisla, had jumps on 123.5 m and 127.5 m (256.1 points) and came in third. This was his second Top 3 finish this season. "It was a very good competition. Our team likes Wisla and we were training here a few times this summer. I'm very happy, the third place is a great result."
Only 0.7 points behind Alex Insam, his teammate Davide Bresadola finished fourth and he confirmed his currently great shape after winning yesterday's event.
Behind Jakub Janda of the Czech Republic (5th) and Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud (6th), Sebastian Colloredo completed the very convincing result of the Italian team in seventh.
Domen Prevc was not able to repeat his second place from Saturday, but in eighth he was again the best Slovenian jumper. Jan Ziobro was ninth and represented the hosting Polish team in today's Top 10.
After 12 of the 14 competitions of this summer season, Markus Eisenbichler leads the overall ranking with 518 points. Rok Justin (411 points) and Jan Ziobro (318 points) follow in second and third.
The next competitions of the FIS Continental Cup will take place in Klingenthal (GER) on September 30th and October 1st. These two competitions are the final events of the COC in the summer 2016.
