Return to the Nordic Combined Mecca Chaux-Neuve
The Nordic Combined January is packed with highlights and the next weekend is no exception. The World Cup returns to Chaux-Neuve, one of the Meccas of the discipline, located on the Swiss-French border in the Jura region.

Two Individual Gundersen event are planned and the organisers are happy to announce that the weather gods smiled upon them this year and enabled the preparation of a 2.5 kilometre cross-country track in the last couple of days due to new snowfalls. The region had been suffering from an uncommonly dry winter, so that water to produce artificial snow had been rare.

Now, the athletes can return to a snowy winter wonderland scenery and also the famous Chaux-Neuve crowd will make the weekend into a special one. The question remains: will somebody end the German winning streak when it comes to individual events or will dominator Eric Frenzel’s fabulous success story continue?

Last year’s podium athlete Akito Watabe has just returned to the podiums last weekend and also Bernhard Gruber, who claimed a second rank last year will return to competing after a forced break of two weekends due to sickness. Chaux-Neuve record winner Magnus Moan hurt his ankle during the competition last Friday but is getting better already and hungry for more honours in Chaux-Neuve.
