COC: Slovenes take double victory
Three weeks before the final of this year's FIS Grand Prix will take place in Klingenthal (GER), the athletes fight for wins in the Continental Cup this weekend in the Vogtland-Arena.

In the first competition on Saturday evening, which was held under difficult conditions with changing winds that lead to various interruptions, Anze Lanisek was jumping in a league of his own.

The 18-year-old was already in the lead after the first round with an outstanding jump on 144 m (only 2.5 m short of the hill record). In the final the newly crowned Slovenian champion then took the his third win in the Continentalcup with 132 m and 259.1 points.

Peter Prevc, who jumped on 127 m and 128 m, provided the double win for Slovenia in second, but with 232.4 points he came in clearly behind his teammate.

The third place went to the best German on the first day of competition in Klingenthal, Markus Eisenbichler. He posted jumps on 133.5 m and 128.5 m that earned him a total of 226.7 points.

Vincent Descombes Sevoie missed the podium by four points, but can still be happy about his fourth place. A top result for the French. With Jure Sinkovec in fifth, a third member of the Slovenian team was among the best today.

The veterans Manuel Fettner and Wolfgang Loitzl finished sixth and seventh and were the best of the Austrian team, closely followed by the two Germans Michael Neumayer (8th) and Danny Queck (9th). The Top 10 were completed by Andraz Pograjc, yet another Slovene, young American William Rhoads surprised in eleventh.

It was a bad day for Poland's Jakub Wolny. The Junior World Champion was already looking like the winner of the competition with jumps on 140 m and 139.5 m, but he was disqualified after the competition because his suit was not compliant to the rules. As a consequence the 19-year-old was only 30th at the end.

The Slovenian team is still dominating the overall ranking of the COC. With 482 points Cene Prevc leads ahead of his teammates Miran Zupancic (359 points), Andraz Pograjc (311 points) and Peter Prevc (280 points).
