Anti-Doping Testing 2014 in numbers
FIS is publishing yearly statistics on in-competition and out-of-competition doping controls based on a seasonal overview, it is interesting to take a look at the overall doping control numbers in the FIS disciplines in the report prepared by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which includes doping controls conducted by various Anti-Doping organisations.

In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code, the main focus is to carry out effective, intelligent testing and not just to record high numbers of tests.

WADA-accredited laboratories analysed 18’134 samples in skiing and snowboarding in 2014 (including Paralympic disciplines). A percentage of 0.7 was reported as adverse analytical findings.

Furthermore, 153 urine samples underwent additional isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) analysis based on a high T/E ratio value. A total of 1'836 urine and blood samples were additionally analysed for the presence of Erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs), 369 blood samples were collected for human growth hormone (hGH) analysis, 67 blood samples for Haemoglobin based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) and 55 samples for blood transfusion testing (HBT).
