10^th May 2016 marked 1000 days until the official opening ceremony of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2019 in Åre (SWE) scheduled for 4^th February 2019.

The 50^th International Ski Congress in Cancun (MEX) will elect the sixteen members of the FIS Council for the next two-year period from 2016-2018. The member National Ski Associations have proposed the following candidates by the deadline of 6^th May 2016:

The team presented by the Norwegian Ski Federation is identical with last year’s team, meaning new coaching staff Kristian Hammer, BK Ingebrigtsen and Peder Sandell will take care of the following athletes:

Matt Graham has taken home the 2016 Ski and Snowboard Australia Athlete of the Year award after an outstanding season, which saw him finish second overall in the FIS moguls World Cup.

On 30^th April 2016, a gathering took place in Tignes (FRA) where the Organisers, retired athletes and competition officials participated in the celebration of the 30^th anniversary of the first ever FIS Freestyle Ski World Championship France in January 1986.

Rune Velta experienced the ups and downs of elite sports recently. After a amazing 2014/15 season, he was not able to follow up these great performances last winter.

Team selections are crucial steps in the preparation for next season.

At the invitation of FIS, TV producers representing the main broadcasters along with the European Broadcasting Union and Infront Sports & Media as well as FIS timing and data partner, Swiss Timing, gathered in Zurich (SUI) for the FIS World Cup Broadcaster Meeting on 2^nd May 2016.
