The 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championship officially got underway today at a festive opening ceremony held in Vail.

Germany's Victoria Carl and Norway's Fredrik Riseth are the 2015 FIS World Junior cross-country ski champions in the 1.3km classic sprint competition in Almaty, Kazakhstan. 

Due to snow conditions in Almaty, Kazakhstan the start of the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships has been delayed by one day. 

Carina Vogt won the second individual competition in Hinzenbach. 

Severin Freund won the final competition in Willingen and achieved the third podium result for Germany in the third competition in front of the home crowd.

Right after the last World Cup weekend, the Norwegian Ski Federation has nominated its team for the upcoming Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, Sweden. 

The second-ever World Cup aerials team event took place on Saturday night at Lake Placid's Whiteface Mountain in difficult conditions, with frigid temperatures and strong winds making for a tough night for the highest jumpers in the world. 

The jumpers of Slovenia won the team competition in Willingen. Jurij Tepes, Nejc Dezman, Jernej Damjan and Peter Prevc scored a total of 957.9 points and took a clear win ahead of Germany and Norway. 

The Norwegian and American Ski Federations have announced their cross-country ski team selections for the upcoming FIS Nordic World Championships in Falun, Sweden taking place from the 19 February to 1 March, 2015.
