Shiffrin defends slalom title

Saturday’s slalom marked the last day of World Championships action for the ladies and it couldn’t have been a sweeter ending for the American fans as Mikaela Shiffrin laid out a stunning performance and successfully defended her 2012 World Championships title.

Fannemel wins qualification with amazing flight

With an amazing jump on 246 m Anders Fannemel won the qualification on the huge hill in Vikersund. Fannemel landed only 0.5 m short of the world record held by his fellow countryman Johan Remen Evensen. With 223.4 points the Norwegian came in ahead of his teammate Andreas Stjernen and Japanese Daiki Ito.
Ligety wins gold medal in giant slalom

Vail-Beaver Creek, Colorado – The technical male skiers came into play on Friday to battle it out in the giant slalom under sunny skies and ideal conditions. In fifth place after the opening run on a turny and technical course with a lot of tempo changes, which is not his favourite type of set, defending champion Ted Ligety fought back in the second run.

Fenninger mines gold in Colorado again

In an exciting giant slalom race that saw the lead change hands more times than could be counted on two hands, Anna Fenninger (AUT) earned a hard-fought gold against a large, competitive field at the 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships in Beaver Creek.

For the next two years, Claudia Riegler (AUT) and Roland Fischnaller (ITA) will be the reigning world champions in the parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom, respectively. However, they also could remain the oldest snowboarders ever to win the world title even longer.

Study groups inspect Championships to gain first-hand knowledge

Members of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Organising Committee, as well as the St Moritz 2017 and Are 2019 Alpine Ski World Championship Organisers amongst many other Organising Committees, visited Vail-Beaver Creek to inspect the installations and develop an understanding of the infrastructure and organisation ‘behind the scenes’.
