

As the last skier down the mountain, Slovenia’s Tina Maze spoiled the Austrian party as she won the gold medal, topping Nicole Hosp by 0.22 seconds in the ladies’ Alpine Combined a the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Beaver Creek.

Organizers of the 43rd Tartu Maraton gathered today to make an official decision concerning this years’ Tartu Maraton. Considering current track conditions and weather forecast for the week ahead the decision was unanimous that the 43rd Tartu Maraton will take place on the planned track and distance.

With the World Cup on hiatus before the World Championships in Falun, it was the juniors’s time to shine when their World Championships were held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. And much in the fashion of a Manuel Faißt or a Philipp Orter who claimed all the Junior World Championship gold medals in the past two years, there was another athlete who put his mark on the competitions: Norway’s rising star Jarl Riiber.

Good news both from the World Championship venue Falun and also from Ramsau, Austria where the Nordic Combined Continental Cup will resume next weekend: the snow controls for both events were positive.

The 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championship presented by Audi marched on today with the fifth medal event on the schedule. Today, the men enjoyed sunny skies and ideal conditions for the Alpine Combined, which included the Birds of Prey downhill run together with a slalom.

Anders Fannemel took the win in the second World Cup competition in Titisee-Neustadt.

Sara Takanashi won the second competition in Rasnov.

It was deja vu all over again at the second of back-to-back Audi ski cross World Cup races in Arosa, Switzerland, as both Fanny Smith (SUI) and Victor Oehling Norberg (SWE) were able to pull off improbable repeat victory performances, with both leading from start to finish under the brilliant Swiss sun.

Severin Freund took a clear win in the World Cup in Titisee-Neustadt and is more and more the top favorite for the World Championships in Falun in two weeks. With jumps on 138.5 m and 140 m the Bavarian scored 299.4 points and came in ahead of Stefan Kraft and Peter Prevc.

The Birds of Prey course took flight for today’s men’s downhill at the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championship presented by Audi and Patrick Kueng (SUI) soared to the gold medal.
