Enni Rukajarvi (FIN) and Max Parrot (CAN) have earned their chapters in the history books winning the LAAX OPEN 2017 slopestyle event which was part of the Snowboard Freestyle World Cup tour for the very first time and featured a field able to throw down the best and creative tricks.

Olympic champion Eva Samkova (CZE) and multiple X Games title winner Nate Holland have posted the best times in Thursday's qualifiers for this season's second snowboard cross World Cup event staged at Solitude Mountain Resort (USA), home of the 2019 FIS Snowboard snowboard cross world championships races.

Both FIS Snow Controllers, Alan Johnson and Matthew T. Pauli have given green light for the FIS Junior World Championships in Park City, USA. The championship venues, which are set to take place in early February, are both ready to host the events, including three medal chances for Nordic Combined athletes.

FIS member National Ski Associations can still submit their candidacy to host the 52^nd International Ski Congress in 2020. The application deadline is 31^st March 2017.

The 51^st International Ski Congress will be held from 13^th to 19^th May 2018 in Costa Navarino (GRE).

The Small European Ski (SES) Nations Championships were held from 12^th-15^th January 2017 in Lebanon with the participation of teams from Lithuania, Romania, Portugal, Cyprus, Serbia, Armenia, San Marino, Hungary, Slovakia, Albania, Greece and host Lebanon.

The Ski Jumping Center in Erzurum, Turkey, was fully destroyed by a landslide in July 2014. After 2.5 years, the reconstruction of the hills was now completed.
